Who Am I

I am Gavin van Wyk.  As you probably noticed I am from the male species…. Been like that for the last 30 years.

Since 23 May 1998 I am wearing a wedding ring on my finger.  I was fortunate to have met the most beautiful lady in Namibia and as luck would have it she developed a liking towards me as well.  Boy was I lucky!

My luck didn't’t subside though…. On 12 July 2001 Kiara was born, my first-born and the most beautiful girl in the world. And it appears as if she’s being blessed with some brains as well.  Two years later my third luck strikes again.  On 14 July 2003 (Excellent timing hey!) Cody, my son was born.  He is one good-looking chap.  Take my word for it.  And together we constitute the Van Wyk family from Acacia Park in Windhoek, Namibia.

In short, apart from my love for the above-mentioned people, I have another love for a cub in Pretoria (please read Tswane), South Africa called the Northern Bulls Rugby Club.  They are the third best provincial rugby side in the southern hemisphere at the moment.

On the cricket oval, I am a doable batsman for the Windhoek Cricket Club.  Currently I am one of the sides opening batsmen.

Apart from that I like fishing and hunting with friends (I am living in Namibia where the above mentioned activities can easily pass as national sports).  However due to pressing commitments I do not have much time for extra-curricular activities at the moment.

Uh…Um…well. That’s me!

What do I do?

Guess what…I am a civil servant.  I am an analyst in the Government of Namibia.  I am currently stationed in the capital city, Windhoek and I just love my job.  I am in this particular Department since 1996 and still everyday I learn something new.

In addition to this I am studying part time for my B Tech Degree in Journalism and Communication Technology at the Polytechnic of Namibia.  This however keeps me rather busy.

This in spite I still try and make time for my lovely wife and kids and if time permits look up some friends
