BIOGRAPHY
Set-son Ileni Mekondjo Wahengo
Set-son or Eagle Eyes as he is also known, was born
on 3 February 1974.

His
mother is a nurse, now close to retiring and his father was a pastor, school
principle and teacher before he passed away in 1997. Set-son is the second
child of four boys from his mother and the third of 15 children from his
father. His two younger brothers (Tulonga and Mbwakalola) - from his mother
- are also musicians and they used to play together in the Mighty Dreads but
they now have their own bands, while Nafidi (another young brother from his
father) is Set-son's current drummer.
Set-son plays traditional Oshiwambo music, which he named Shambo as well as
Reggae Roots and Culture. His influences are Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and
other great Reggae musicians. Shambo music is based on the Oshiwambo
people's traditional norms, while Reggae is based on spirituality. Set-son's
second album was ably named Wisdom Fundamental, and is talking about the
communication of the Soul with the Flesh or simply put, the communion with
God. His third album, titled The Drama of Cain and Abel, talks of the fight
between brother and brother and sister and sister.
Said Set-son:"I am preaching against the war among us. My aim is to reveal
our hidden magic, potential, self knowledge and open the channel of
communication with God."
The next album, due later in 2008, will be titled: Ultimate Revelation and
will be based on politics.
Explained Set-son:" Our people are manipulated by politicians because most
of them are politically immature and is easy for politicians to manipulate
dem and war is always vulnerable in Africa."
Apart from working on his music, Set-son likes listening to al kinds of
music and play football with friends. He also likes to keep fit and trains
by punching his boxing bag. Set-son loves watching boxing and football and
also enjoys playing chess.
Besides his mother tongue (Oshiwambo), Set-son can also speak English,
Spanish and Portuguese.
The band's last show was on 31 December 2007 at Oshikango and was a huge
success.
Their next show will be in February at the Palm Tree Park in the capital
after which they will return to the studio to record their fourth album,
Ultimate Revelation.
